The Cooper-Hewitt announced the winners of its 13th annual National Design Awards this morning and, as always, the winners are an interesting mix of names that many of you will probably recognize — like New York fashion designer Thom Browne or interior design wizards Clive Wilkinson Architects — and some less familiar faces, such as Design that Matters, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit design company that was founded by a group of graduate students at the MIT Media Lab back in 2001 to design products that “address basic needs in developing countries.” We’ve rounded up some interesting examples of work from winners in the major categories after the jump; click through our slideshow, and let us know what catches your eye in the comments.
